Biggest Medical Boon to Sikkim Health: STNM gets Laparoscopic Machine
06 Mar, Gangtok (IPR) : Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial (STNM) Hospital is now well equipped with a latest Laparoscopic Machine in surgery department today. Now onwards patients can undergo medical treatment of various cases like gallbladder stone, Hernia and Appendix with upgraded techniques and new methodology.
Minister for Health Care, Human Services and Family Welfare Deptt Shri Arjun Kumar Ghatani officially launched the machine in the special presence of Commissioner-cum-Secretary Mr. Vishal Chauhan, Principal Director, Medical Superintendent STNM Hospital, officials and doctors.
While briefing to media persons, Mr Ghatani said that a latest Laparoscopic machine has been installed to provide facilities to the patients at best level as per the directives and vision of Hon`ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr Pawan Chamling. From now onwards people can avail medical treatement with support of advanced technology here in the state hospital only. He also informed about the upgradarion of latest equipments and machines in other departments under STNM and district hospitals.
Chief Consultant-cum- Head of the surgery Deptt. Dr. Passang D. Phempo informed that the machine of Startz company from Germany is one of the best level of highly advanced machine to carry out surgery of the patients. Previous machine was installed in the year 2004 and the deptt was conduting operations of 350-400 number of Gallbladder stone cases annually. Besides Gallbladder, Hernia and appendix medical case of Solid Organ Surgery can be taken up in STNM Hospital in near future with the support of newly installed machine.
