Regularization of 19 adhoc lecturers draws flak from other candidates
Gangtok, July 3 : The decision by the Sikkim HRD Department to?regularize 19 adhoc lecturers based on their teaching experience has drawn flak from other eligible and qualified candidates who have termed the decision as unethical and sheer injustice to them.
A group of eligible candidates,?who had failed to get through the?SPSC interview for direct recruitment as assistant professors, while condemning the decision taken by the HRD Department alleged that the selected adhoc lecturers despite their teaching experience had also failed to get through the interview, and demanded the department to withdraw its decision.
?These 19 lecturers despite given full weightage for their teaching experience had failed to get through the interview.??As a result, they sat on a dharna at District Court for 9 days demanding regularization. The dharna was called off after receiving an assurance from the govt. Accordingly, the HRDD recently handed over a memorandum to the 19 adhoc lecturers to appoint them in permanent post as assistant professors. As such the group appeals to Govt. of Sikkim and the concerned department to withdraw its na?ve decision which is unethical and sheer injustice to other qualified candidates,? the group stated in its press release.
The group further urged the Govt. to either withdraw its decision or to appoint all the remaining eligible qualified candidates who had appeared for the interview.
"The group appeals the Govt. to withhold the appointment letter of the 19 adhoc lecturers until? a final decision on the? appointment of the remaining eligible candidates who had appeared for the interview is taken," the release concluded.
