Sikkim CM Extends Support PM Call For 21 Days Lockdown Against Covid 19
Pakyong, 24 Mar : There was a tremendous rush of support which started pouring? in immediately when Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi on 24 Mar evening at 8 PM made a compassionate call for fighting Pandemic Covid 19 disease to next extreme level to the citizens of Largest Democratic Country of World India through radio, internet and TV? media, he appealed people from all walks of life to give their best to cope with "Call For 21 Days Nationwide Lockdown". There's no other way out to destroy the evil Coronavirus, participation of citizens is very important which will save many lives if done by everyone from individual level.
In the row, many intellectuals , thinktanks , political leaders too lauded the stand of PM.
In similar way, the Chief Minister of Sikkim Sh Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) also took on twitter to laud the Call For Nationwide 21 Days Lockdown by Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi Ji.
Respected people of Sikkim,
As our Hon?ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation last night, decreeing a 21-day lockdown, I, on behalf of the State concur and abide the instructions given by the Hon?ble Prime Minister.
I would once again like to appeal to all the Sikkimese people to take these instructions seriously and sincerely. As the Hon?ble Prime Minister stated, that the only way to combat the spread of COVID 19 is Social Distancing, I urge our people to dutifully comply and stay confined in their houses for the next 21 days. I repeat the words of our Hon?ble Prime Minister, ?There is no other way.?
Sikkim is a small state and we live in close-knit societies, therefore, the challenge for our Sikkimese people may be demanding but I strongly believe in the discipline and amenability of our people and trust you all to follow the instructions given by the Government. Particularly, in dire cases of social obligation, such as a funeral, as directed by the Central Government, not more than twenty persons will be permitted.
Health cannot be substituted nor replaced, hence it is our top most priority as well as responsibility to work towards breaking the chain of this perilous disease. To protect and keep our families, friends and communities safe, we must act sensibly and rationally. The symptoms and signs of COVID 19 as informed by experts are not distinct or instant. Hence we cannot afford to be at risk or put the lives of our loved ones at risk. We can achieve this only through Social Distancing.
We will ensure the availability of essential items like food and medicine. I appeal to the people to read, understand and follow the guidelines issued for the lockdown period. It is in these testing times that we can prove ourselves and as explained in my appeal, our government has formulated contingency plans to curb the crisis.
I reiterate the words of the Hon?ble Prime Minister and say that we must look up to other countries that have successfully managed to control the spread of COVID 19 and take hope and lessons from them. We must not forget the diligent service of people working in the health, police and sanitizing sectors and as compassionate human beings must thank and pray for those in the line of duty.
