Sikkim Minister, Legislator met WB CM over road and railway connectivity
Kolkata , 11 Mar (IPR) : A meeting was called on by the Minister Roads & Bridges Department, Government of Sikkim Shri Samdup Lepcha with the Chief Minister of West Bengal Ms Mamata Banerjee in presence of MLA-cum-Advisor Shri GT Dhungel and the Director General of Police of West Bengal Shri Virender Singh at the office of Chief Minister of West Bengal, Nabanna Bhawan, Kolkata, West Bengal.
The meeting was held in view of improving road connectivity between West Bengal and Sikkim which is very important to both the States and also to India.
During the meeting the Minister laid out the issues that affected the connectivity between Sikkim and West Bengal which included the ongoing construction of Viaduct at Rangpo, proposal of new flyover at Railway crossing at Sevoke Road and alternate bridge downstream of existing railway bridge over Teesta River, administrative support from the Government of West Bengal for speedy construction of railway line from Siliguri to Rangpo, Junction improvement at Darjeeling More and relocation of Haat at Salugara.
The meeting concluded with a positive note and the? Chief Minister of West Bengal assured to give her full support.
This was followed by a meeting of the Minister and? MLA with the Chief Secretary of West Bengal Sri Rajiva Sinha and the Secretary, Department of Land Reforms, West Bengal Shri Manoj Pant along with Principal Chief Engineer Shri B. Prashad, Roads & Bridges Department Government of Sikkim, Assistant Engineer Shri Aswin Nirola, Gangtok Smart City Dev. Ltd., Government of Sikkim and representatives of NHICDCL wherein the above mentioned points where discussed at length.
The Chief Secretary decided to take up the matter immediately and the Secretary also assured complete support to the Government of Sikkim.
Both the meetings were very fruitful and this shall have profound positive impact on the people of Sikkim and West Bengal and the country as a whole.
