"Zero Cases" Of Coronavirus in Sikkim till date
08 Mar, Gangtok : As per the press communique received from state government , the govt has been taking active measures against the outbreak of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19). So far, there have been zero cases reported in the state of Sikkim.
The Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation has suspended Inner Line Permits until further notice so as to not put any lives at risk. Domestic tourists can visit Tsomgo up till Baba Mandir but all permits to Nathula have been cancelled.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has been strenuously screening every passenger entering the state at all border check posts, particularly people who are arriving from infected cities and states. The teams stationed at these check posts question passengers and anyone with even slight indication of cough, flu or headache are immediately inspected and thermal scanned. So far, there has been no passenger who has been reported positive.
Foreign nationals who have entered the state before 5th March have been scanned and quarantined in their hotel rooms for extra safety measures. Doctors have been following up on them on daily basis and submitting reports. There have been no cases reported so far.
As per the information received from the department of health and family welfare, Rangpo is a crucial and congested area, therefore, it has been decided that the number of teams stationed at Rangpo will be increased and the department will involve NGOs and volunteers for additional and efficient support.
