Pakyong, 12 May : The Chief Minister Sh Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) mentioned message to the Nurses on auspicious International Nurses Day 2020
"Every occupation in our society deserves to be respected and acknowledged equally. Among the humanistic professions, nursing requires the most dedication, compassion, and patience.
On the occasion of International Nurses Day which is also the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, I would like to extend my heartfelt greetings to our nurses.
They have always been at the forefront of every pandemic and epidemic, providing high quality and respectful treatment and care . They account for more than half of all the health workers. The COVID-19 pandemic is evident in showing the importance of their role in our society.
Nurses are the backbone of any health system. Today, many of our nurses find themselves on the front-line in the battle against COVID-19. They have been working diligently and with dedication and are one of the reasons that Sikkim is still untouched by the global pandemic.
I pay my highest respect to our nurses and nurses around the world whose contributions are unparalleled".
