Covid 19 : Sikkim Gets First Of Its Kind Virology Research , Testing and Diagnostics Lab
Pakyong, 21 May : Most awaited moment today accomplished in tiny Himalayan State Sikkim which was lacking own Virology Lab (Dept of Virology, A Lab Capable of Research, Diagnostics and Testing ) to test and diagnose illness, same was today officially inaugurated from hand of Chief Minister Sh Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). According to Health Minister Dr. Mani Kumar Sharma this lab will be suitably used to testing and diagnosis of various viral , micro level illness and ailments. Ever since Covid 19 Pandemic , Sikkim lacked this facility as such was running towards North Bengal Hospital Siliguri to conduct tests and test report also gets delayed or even samples gets lately tested in appropriate parameters of conditions suitable for testing accurately under standards. Dr. Sharma told that this is Research and Testing lab only as of now approved by ICMR Govt of India.
After inauguration CM speaking to The Voice Of Sikkim told that said lab shall garner most required facility of the hour for state in Pandemic. From next Monday onward testing shall be starting in new labs getting "Go Ahead"? signal from ICMR Govt of India. CM also mentioned here that said lab will not store any specimens as such Sikkim being Seismically active Zone not matter it could be bio-hazardous in case of any accidents.
