Border Roads and Highway Needs An Attention
Pakyong, 18 Jun: While the whole nation is condemning a heinous act of Chinese Hypocrisy, where our 20 Bravehearts small contingent of troop during patrolling laid their life in Eastern Ladakh Galwan Valley. Netizens have sprouted their anger and rage against China for false warfare disengagement, netizens are started boycotting the Chinese goods, hardware, software which are high sources of revenue China generates from those items, that revenue goes directly for Chinese defense infrastructure procurement against India.
But, there is one major thing to be seriously thought is all about how our Jawans reach LAC Line of Control 3500 Km borders? Yes, road connectivity is a vital entity to fetch our soldiers safely, freely along with supply at those crucial posts which is the challenging task because the border road condition is very pathetic in many places.
Semi Govt and Private Agencies who are awarded the national contract for the border road work are least bothered in carrying work diligently, illegally subletting works, and lobbying of local incompetent parties is causing bottleneck situations elongating the whole project completion period. And, that directly affects the defense maneuver.
The Ministry of Roads, Transport, and Highway need to thoroughly checksum the progress reports of all Border Roads highway projects. Sikkim is one of the important border states which needs attention from the Ministry level to examine the quality and standard of highway works which are going on unfortunately not as per prescribed DPR norms.
In East Sikkim, Ranipul to Pakyong highway NH 717 A of length 16.539 Km two-lane with paved shoulder construction work executed under SARDP-NE is causing great inconvenience for traffic and daily commuters, there're also series of complaints which was today discussed in-between administration and public. After completion, this highway would serve as an important link to Pakyong Airport, Nathula border.
