Covid 19 : A First Two Positive Cured, Discharged From STNM
Gangtok, June 13: (IPR) The first two COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at STNM Hospital have fully recovered and were discharged today.
At a time when the State is witnessing a surge in the number of positive cases, the news of these recoveries comes as a huge encouragement for all the Health workers, State Government and the people of Sikkim.
At around 11 this morning, the first COVID-19 positive patient in the State walked out of STNM Hospital recovered. He was joined by the second recovered patient. Both of them will undergo strict home quarantine for the remaining 14 days, it was informed. The two recovered persons were greeted with loud cheer and applause by the Hospital staff and well wishers.
Hon'ble Minister, Health Department, Dr. M.K. Sharma was present on the occasion to see off the two recovered patients and to personally congratulate and commend all the frontline Health workers of the COVID Wing of STNM Hospital. The Hon'ble Minister was accompanied by DG-cum-Secretary, Health, Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, MS STNM Hospital Dr. Passang D. Phempu, AMS, Officers of Health Department, Doctors and paramedics.
It may further be informed that the third batch of 43 frontline health workers deployed at the COVID-19 wing completed their week long shift and were sent for 14 day government designated quarantine centre.
Simultaneously, around 50 frontline Health workers comprising of Specialists, Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics and Sanitary staff have entered the COVID-19 wing to take over the charge of COVID duty.
