Clarification By DIG on Melli Checkpost Faux Pas Illegal Entry of 5 Persons
Pakyong, 05 Jul : On Saturday the Sikkim Police DIG Pravin Gurung called on media to address on crucial issue which was hovering throughout state regarding illgal entry of 5 Siliguri based persons inside Sikkim to attend funeral which happened to come under jaws of criticism for DGP favoring his known person for passage through Melli Checkpost amid Covid 19 without undergoing their tests or quarantine breaching the Disaster Management DM Act 2005 of Government strict protocol.
In this case Saturday DIG placed before media audio call transcript and recording between Station Head Officer SHO Karma Tshering Tamang and DGP Sikkim, Shri A. Shankar Rao, IPS, DIG also disclosed conversation between SHO and Duty Persons at Melli Checkpost.
The incident came in limelight following one viral post by Facebook Id 'Mothers Sikkim' where incident of nepotism under highhandedness was narrated on Wednesday evening , the very next day on Thursday Office of Chief Minister released Press Released informing departmental enquiry shall be done over alleged discrepancy and breach following which on Friday two Duty personnel were reportedly suspended for their act as per Sikkim Police Service Rule and Conduct.
However now after media briefing the Department has revoked suspension of two Duty Persons (See Last Press release Below)
