Covid 19 : Doctor in emergency duty tested positive with Covid 19
Pakyong, 25 Jul : Until now Sikkim saw 477 cases with 18 new cases as per Friday evening Department official bulletin. Today, as per State Health Secretary cum DG Dr Pempa Tshering Bhutia one emergency duty doctor caught with Covid 19 , all necessary preparedness is done keeping STNM Hospital emergency in containment for 1 week period during which we have asked Central referral Hospital Tadong to look into emergency cases or new cases for period. We have provided 100 Antigen Kits to CRH Tadong to admit patients only after test. Those who are already admitted in emergency will continue to get treatment after doing few adjustment. As per report doctor was exposed on 24 July with patient whose test came positive. However our flu clinic is also open in STNM for test in case of Covid 19 signature then we shall refer to CRH for next 1 week. As per protocol minimum period of exposure until final report is 6 days which is 29 Jul or 30 Jul , everyone in contact in hospital will be tested. Other three doctors who were also working there are kept in isolation in another location. We have started contact tracing those who came in contact with doctor who tested positive.
Dr. Bhutia has appealed all level doctors and hospital of all four districts not to refer patients to STNM emergency rather to CRH Tadong.
