CM Inaugurates Orchid Flower Show at Flower Exhibition Centre at Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal Memorial Park
Gangtok, March 15 (IPR) The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri P.S. Tamang inaugurated the Orchid Show at Flower Exhibition Centre at Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal Memorial Park near White Hall, today.
?The Chief Minister was also accompanied by the Hon'ble Minister Agriculture & Horticulture Shri Lok Nath Sharma, Minister Forest Shri Karma Loday Bhutia, Minister Road and Bridges Shri Samdup Lepcha.
The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the Orchid Show and interacted with the exhibitors. He applauded their efforts to adpot floriculture professionally and further encouraged them to conserve the varieties of orchids. The Inaugural function also saw a cake cutting ceremony by the Hon'ble Chief Minister.
The customary inaugural of flower show has competition in four divisions namely, Cymbidium Hybrids, Species Orchids, Cymbidium Eburneum and Cymbidium Lowianum.
The tradition of formally celebrating the arrival of spring through an orchid show has been continued for last many years.
On the sideline of the programme, the Chief Minister also interacted with the students of schools from Gangtok peripheries including Government Sr. Secondary School Sichey, Government Sr. Secondary Modern School and Girls Sr Secondary School Deorali and advised them to focus on career building for the development of the nation. He also asked about their requirement and need of the school.
