Covid 19 : CM's Emergency Meeting With SLTF at Samman Bhawan
Pakyong, 27 Mar (Gangtok) : Today , The Chief Minister Sh PS Tamang (Golay) chaired an emergency meeting with the State Level task force at Samman Bhawan at Gangtok.
During the meeting, CM took stock of state's preparedness and gave direction to the concerned officials.
"There have been no positive cases reported in our state, we have to be extremely vigilant and cautious and not be complacent. We need to work together and try to restrict the incidence of COVID-19 in Sikkim".
CM also suggested sanitizing all the market areas in Sikkim. The concerned department should see that all the nooks and corners of our markets are carefully sanitized so that the danger of the disease is reduced.
CM asked the Health department to ensure that there is no shortage of doctors in medical centers. Rangpo and Melli, the two most important checkpoints of Sikkim shall be manned by at least 5 Medical officers. The department needs to make sure our medial team and staff working on the frontline should not face any shortage or Personal Protection Equipments (PPE).
Similarly, CM suggested that the Animal Husbandry department to work in tandem with concerned NGOs and see that the stray animals are not starving during the lockdown.
The department should also immediately post a veterinary officer at Bulbuley Zoo, CM added.
CM gives clear instructions to the concerned department and officials to make sure the suppliers are cooperating and if found not complying with the orders of the Department, stringent action may be taken against them.
During the meeting, the following has been decided:
1) During this lockdown, Five-member families whose members are not holding any government job will be provided relief by the State government in the form of :
- Rice: 20 kg
- Dal: 5 kg
- Cooking Oil: 5Litre
- Salt: 1 kg
- Potato: 7 kg
- Onion: 2 kg
2) Similarly, for two to three-member families whose members are not holding any government job will be provided with:
- Rice: 10 kg
- Dal: 2 kg
- Cooking Oil: 2Litre
- Salt: 1 kg
- Potato: 5 kg
- Onion: 2 kg
3) The daily wage of extra Rs. 300/- per day will be provided to the laborers working in all Pharma Companies functioning in the State throughout the lockdown period.
4) As a recognition of the commendable services of the medical staff including health workers, police personnel including SAP, IRB, Homeguards, drivers under Transport Department along with Safaikarmacharis under Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Urban Development, the State government will be providing a package of Rs. 3000 as relief incentive during the current pandemic.
5) The State government has also decided to provide insurance to all these frontline warriors for a period of three months.
6) Further, the State government has permitted the State Bank of Sikkim to allow a three-month moratorium period on all loans.
7) Students stranded outside the state will be provided with 5000 rupees for this period. The Chief Minister's Office and the education department will be monitoring in this regard. Government will also provide all necessary items to the 58 students currently present at the quarantine facility in Assam Lingze.
Concluding the meet CM assures that the government has enough resources and a backup plan for two months to contain the availability of all essential items. A 24/7 helpline for any emergency or distress will be made public soon. Local BDO's can be contacted for any shortage of essential items.
