Passingdang Flash-Flood : Top Priority For Relief and Restoration Says North Administration

Heavy rain erupt flash-flood in Upper Dzongu (Passingdang), North Sikkim
Pakyong/Dzongu, 28 June : A total of 17 houses have been damaged at Passingdang in Upper Dzongu, North Sikkim by the flash flood that occurred last night at around 8:30 pm. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported as the affected people have been alerted by the neighbours from right above the village. Whole Passingdang village is in turmoil today as the electricity, drinking water supply, road connectivity have been snapped.
The affected families have been sheltered and spent the night at Passingdang PHC which was the safest location among all in the area.
The area MLA, Dzongu, Pintso Namgyal Lepcha along with DC North, TT Kaleon, Sr. SP North, Ongmu Bhutia, Up Adhakshya North, Theney Bhutia, DFO Territorial, Pempa Dadul Bhutia, SDM and BDO Passingdang
along with the officials from line department visited the spot today and took the stock of damages.
The district administration along with the area MLA today managed the affected families of the flashflood in a safer location for the time being.
The DC today directed the concerned officials to focus the immediate relief and restoration for the time being and informed the permanent restoration will undertake after conducting proper survey.
The team also interacted with all the victims and asked about the immediate requirement. The victims demanded the immediate requirement of flood light in the area.
The team also visited the Lingdong landslide today and interacted with the affected people.
The area MLA stated that the relief and restoration will be given priority. He further stated that all major restoration will be done as early as possible.
Apart from the flashflood, the Passingdang village has been cut by rest of the districts with three major landslides and the restoration work will take few more days to resume.
